Dear gentle readers, we ALWAYS love your comments and feedback.  To get an email from you is like your 9th birthday, a visit from the tooth fairy AND the Christmas you got your first Huffy 10 speed all rolled into one.  Today, I wanted to take a moment and address some of the more frequently asked question we've gotten over the last couple weeks.

How can I get my event listed?

Simple!  Send us an e-mail at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   We'll always give you a basic write up and a spot in the churn for free.   You can also use the Submit an Event link to make life easier on everyone involved.

For free?  Can I also buy a banner on your site, so that I can help this excellent web site grow?

Yes, yes, yes and yes.  We have excellent traffic and cater to a couple highly desirable demographics- plus we have plenty of metrics to help track your ad!  There are several options available.  To begin customizing your package and to see how KV Live and our parent company, Bass Mint Studios LLC, can help stretch your marketing dollars, click here.

Why don't you guys have classified ads?

We don't have them yet.  Simply because we haven't had time to build them in yet.  They're a 2010 goal, to be added when demand and traffic dictates it.  Though as we are big fans of Craigslist, the lack of traffic on their site doesn't exactly make us super aggressive on this.  Maybe it's just a rep thing.  But the point is, we'll do it "some day".

Why don't you list more stuff that's going on at the Empty Glass?  It's so great, blah blah blah.

The guy who books the shows at the Empty Glass made it very apparent to our editors that he was not interested in us helping them put more patrons in their establishment.  For free.  So we don't.  Please stop asking.

Ok, so what about the rest of the bars?

We have met nothing but hassle and tribulations trying to cover this music "scene" here in town and so nobody on staff really wants to fool with it.  When something totally awesome catches our eye we take steps toward it, but other than that it's incidental.  If you would like to become Kanawha Valley Live's metro Charleston music reporter, you're more than welcome to assume that role.  Email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Hey I noticed that you don't cover much outside of the Charleston city core. What's up with that?

It's just a question of time, resources and knowledge.  We don't have any of those on our friends in the Eastern and Western portions of the county.  Currently, we're seeking volunteers to help us fill these roles.   Email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Why didn't you cover (x)?  It's the greatest and you must hate it.

Believe it or not, we're pretty lame behind the scenes here.  If we didn't come out to something it's not because we don't like it or support it.  Really it is more likely that we didn't know about it, forgot about it, or had already gone home for the day.  The best way to make sure your event is on our radar- let us know!  Use the Submit an Event function and it goes directly to the editors' inbox, ready for approval and posting!

HEY YOU GUYS SAY YOU'RE NOT A NEWS SITE WHY IS THERE NEWS ON YOUR NOT NEWS SITE

We're not necessarily reporters, but we are certainly opportunists.  When we get a hot tip on something good, we're happy to explore that.  While we're not inherently journalists, we do keep one on staff and do understand that the basic tenet of journalism is presenting facts in a pretty objective way and offering a genuine voice to the contrary, both of which we feel like we do a decent enough job of.

Who is Paul Trent?

Paul Trent is an contentious, reclusive bastard who Thomas met in an airport some years ago.  Thanks to similar views on life at large and a hefty quantity of beer, the two discovered that they were both West Virginia boys and struck a friendship.  He wrote briefly for Kanawha Valley Live, and after getting his feelings hurt quit.  He now does whatever it is that he does day to day on his farm in the hills and throws a wicked party from time to time.

I am offended you published something.

Too bad.

Kanawha Valley Live loves discourse. But there are times when discourse crosses the line into something else far more negative- and we don't stand much on that. Click here to read the KV Live comment and privacy policies. By posting, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these terms.
